WHAT DO I TEACH?
The most requested instruments that I teach in private lessons are Violin, Piano, Voice (singing) and Beginner Guitar. I also teach Theoretical Music (Theory, History, Harmony and Counterpoint), Percussion, Cello and Viola. In addition, I can direct choirs, musical theater productions and conduct Music and Movement classes for toddlers and preschool children.
Student's can choose from:
Conservatory style curriculum that teaches students to read music and play a variety of musical styles. (recommended for most students)
Suzuki curriculum that emphasized playing 'by ear'.
Custom curriculum for students who have learning or special needs.
WHAT AGE SHOULD SOMEONE START PRIVATE LESSONS?
I have taught children as young as 4 all the way up to people in their 80's! The love of music knows no age.
If you have a child under the age of 6, you will want to consider the child's temperament, attention span and desire to learn music. I have said to many young students, "do you realize you will read music before you read words?" One is never too young or too old to love and appreciate music!
